Wind Power
The news constantly tells us that we face some pretty dire consequences if we don’t cut carbon emissions and greenhouse gasses. The planet may become a rather unfriendly place to live if current trends continue. One of the ways to stop the destruction as well as maintain our creature comforts is to look for alternative forms of energy. Wind power is one of the more popular forms and provides power that is completely clean.
Wind power is however one of the more controversial alternative fuels. There are some great advantages to wind power but it also has its downsides. In this article we will look at the advantages and disadvantages of using wind power for fuel.
Wind power enables electricity to be made in a completely environmentally friendly way. They power created emits no carbon or radioactive emissions. This means that homes, businesses and institutions can carry on without causing further damage to the planet.
Wind power is generally made with the help of wind turbines. The advantage here is that the land the turbines use can still be used for other purposes. Animals can still graze and crops can still be grown.

The wind turbines themselves are also quite clean. If they have to be dismantled for any reason they leave no residue behind.
Wind turbines are quite large. Those that live in rural areas feel that wind farms spoil the landscape. They also have to be placed quite high on the tops of hills to get the maximum power from the wind. The space required for wind power is also quite large. The same amounts of energy can be produced by other methods over a much smaller space. Finally wind power can be expensive. The energy produced by wind power is generally more expensive than other forms of energy.
Wind power does have its downsides but it is clean energy. Wind power provides a way to maintain our creature comforts without causing further ecological damage.
